About the Artist

Boats, water and rocks – these are subjects I’ll never lose interest in. Water with all its movement and reflected light poses challenges to my painting but yields the most satisfying and surprising outcome.

Provocative images come from many sources, as an artist I have the joy of exploring them. Natural landscapes and seascapes form the core and origin of my work. The bright color and reflected light of urban life give me the same painterly satisfaction as trees and coastlines.

California was home until 1980, where many days I explored the coast and the mountains, the deserts and forests of the West. I come from a family of great outdoor enthusiasts who encouraged my passion for nature. I graduated from California College of the Arts after studying science, which gave my eye and mind two distinct but valuable perspectives. For more than half my life, I’ve lived in New York State where I continue creating, exhibiting, and teaching art. Along the way, I have worked in art administration, and volunteered as a nature guide for a local environmental center. I have also designed exhibits and videos, trained volunteers, taught drawing from nature and related arts in schools and art centers. At my studio, “The Artist’s Place,” I’ve mentored children and adults. Since 2006 I work full-time as an artist.
